SOFTLAND onto Fragile Components - Die Bonder Head from SMAC

 SMAC Linear Rotary Actuators such as LAR-AR series have been successfully used in die bonding and smart card applications. Unique ability “Softland” is ideal for handling fragile and brittle components. SMAC provide automation solutions for a wide variety of Electronics applications. The SMAC unique “Softland” routine within the actuator allows the rod to approach at high speed then land on the surface of a component with a low programmable force. This unique feature is extremely useful whenever delicate or high value components are being handled. The SMAC actuators are compact, light in weight, extremely fast & accurate, offering a combination of force, position & velocity control in both the linear & rotary axis at the same time. They also offer the option of a vacuum pick up facility. DIE BONDING KEY OPERATIONAL SAMPLE It moves to pick-up position and then soft-land to find surface of wafer without damage with impact force less than 10gf. After wafer pick-up, it moves at the top of camera. Camera checks the distorted angle and if it is needed to compensate for distorted angle the rotary motor rotates. Move to bonding position and then soft-landing to the empty tray. Bonding is executed with 3.0kg,3.5Kg,4.0Kg force according to different size of wafers (256M,512M,1G,2G etc..) for a second. One cycle is within 2.2 seconds.
SMAC provide a comprehensive selection of combined linear/rotary actuators with either direct drive or gearbox equipped rotary units. Standard linear resolution on all SMAC actuators is 5 micron with 1micron, half micron and 0.1 micron options available on most models. The rotary resolution varies between 4864 counts for gearbox units and 20,000 counts for the direct drive units. SMAC electric linear/rotary actuators are also ideal for Automotive (QC/measuring/switch test/screw and thread check), SMT, packaging, robotics, pharmaceutical, and medical assembly.  Automotive industry parts and assembly quality standards have moved from sigma level sampling to zero defect requirements. This can be achieved through a combination of containment through 100% inspections(eliminating bad parts) and correction through immediate feedback and adjustment.

 The GRP17 has been developed to provide a compact low profile gripper which provides high performance in a small package size.
