The SMC-PCI card integrates a three axis, high resolution micro-stepping driver and a DSP based motion controller making it a perfect low-cost control solution for the wide range of MICOS high-precision stages as well as third party motors and stages. The card offers unparalleled PC based performance: • 3 axis controller and driver in a single PCI slot • Stages connect directly to the PC eliminating the need for external boxes • High resolution micro-stepping for ultra-smooth motion comparable to DC motor smoothness • Proprietary CoolRunner© stepper driving method allows operation of motors even in vacuum applications • Open or true closed loop stepper operation • 12 bit encoder interpolation • High dynamic velocity range down to 100 nm/sec (for 1 mm pitch screw and 200 full-steps/rev motor) • Linear interpolation for all 3 axis • Joystick and digital I/O • Position error correction Especially noteworthy is the true closed-loop stepper algorithm that compensates positioning errors even during motion, allowing for fast settling times. In addition, the proprietary CoolRunner© stepper driving method keeps the motor cool even in demanding vacuum applications with minimal convection cooling of the motor.
