For Heavy Duty Industrial Applications Newbury Park, CA - Micronor’s new MR221/MR222 series UL/cUL listed Heavy Duty Geared Limit Switches combine gear box, coupling and cam switches in one compact unit. The units are intended for use in the most demanding industrial applications – bridges, cranes, hoists, stage/theatre rigging, presses, packers, machine tools and other similar operations where motion is expressed in shaft rotation. Product options include: single- (MR221) or dual-ended (MR222) shafts, step-up or step-down gear ratios; and NEMA 6/6X / IP66 rated powder-coated die cast aluminum or stainless steel enclosures. The MR22X series meet UL 508 performance and safety requirements. The MR22X series is often used as either a primary control or back-up safety device to the equipment under control. The standard units feature a heavy duty ½” (12.7mm) stainless steel shaft (with #404 Woodruff keys provided) and heavy duty, sealed bearings. The individual cam switch channels (from 2 to 8) are independently programmable over 4-356 degree; while the heavy duty sealed switches (rated 6A-continuous/10A-momentary) offers both NO/NC contacts and field replaceable. COMBICON screw-down wiring blocks provide for ease of hook-up. A cam programming tool (stored internally), Woodruff keys and two built-in ½" NPT conduit hubs/plugs are supplied with each unit. Micronor also specializes in custom engineered configurations including application-specific housings as well as integration with other feedback/position sensors (i.e. optical encoders, fiber optic encoders, resolvers, tachometers, potentiometers, selsyns and 4-20mA outputs). For the past 40 years, Micronor has been a demonstrated leader in custom engineered feedback transducers as well as replacements for obsolete and out-of-production position feedback units (by Baumer, BVR, Crouzet, Eucron, Micron, etc.). Offering a wide range of configuration options, the Micronor standard MR22X series are built-to-order with typical 2-3 week lead times. A typical MR221 unit housed in aluminum housing with 4 cam switch channels and 100:1 gear ratio - is $999 each in small quantities.

Micronor's New MR175 Ergonomic Handheld Pendant Station is Ideal for Control of Industrial Machinery of All Types
Posted Aug 09 2006
Most of the available pendants and HMIs are generally large, boxy and clumsy to hold. Micronor's MR175 offers a user friendly, handheld design - because of both the shape of the unit and visual ID and placement of each of the controls. For safety compliance, Enable switches can be selected for either Live Man (Off/On/Off) or Dead Man (Off/On) operation.

MICRONOR Offers High Resolution, Hollow Shaft Fiber Optic Encoder for Harsh Environments
Filed under: Optical Encoder
Micronor’s new MR314 ZapFREE™ High Resolution Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder was designed for large drive and rotary shaft applications requiring EMI immunity, higher resolution (1024ppr) and the mounting convenience of a traditional hollow shaft encoder package. There are no integral electronics within the encoder housing and the all-optical design requires just a single optical fiber connection – the utmost in simplicity, reliability and ease of installation. The MR314’s totally passive design outperforms conventional optical and magnetic rotary encoders over a wide range of harsh and/or hazardous environments: wide extended operating range (-60°C/+150°C); outdistances copper cable; intrinsically safe and ATEX-compliant; immune to EMI/RFI and ground loops; unaffected by high magnetic fields; and radiation resistant. Special versions can be easily engineered for thermal-vac environments.

Micronor Offers New MR267 Motorized Potentiometers with 4-20mA Current Loop Control
Filed under: Sensors
This new Micronor product provides a simple and inexpensive solution for automating existing systems controlled by manually-operated potentiometers, rheostats or rotary cam switches. Motor Pots may not seem like a sexy control product but they fulfill a wonderful niche in process control! They are simple to use and easy to set up. No computers required or software to write. Easy to maintain and never obsolete. The user-specified potentiometers provide absolute positional feedback information or function as a variable resistor in an analog control or bridge circuit. The motor pot provides a smooth uniform ramp throughout its timing cycle. Rotary limit switches are programmed (via cams) to electrically control events (or provide status) at pre-stages. A few common applications include ramping up the field current of a DC motor or controlling the start-up of a generator.

Micronor Offers a Powerful Universal Remote Encoder Interface Module for ZapFREE Fiber Optic Rotary Encoders
Filed under:
Micronor’s MR310 ZapFREE Remote Encoder Interface (REI) Module is the system interface end of the ZapFREE Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder system – for motion control applications in harsh and hazardous environments.
The MR310 contains sophisticated optoelectronics and firmware which offer features and functions beyond the offerings of conventional rotary encoders. An ST optical port provides the fiber optic connection for the remote ZapFREE Rotary Encoder. Conventional outputs include A/B quadrature outputs, two programmable outputs (ma and V), and RS422/RS485/RS232 serial interface. Special features and functions include a 24-bit Encoder Counter (with zero and pre-set) for quasi-multiturn absolute encoder operation, programmable Divider, Analog Output scale and range programming, diagno...

Micronor Offers the World’s First Totally Passive, Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder for Harsh Environments
Filed under: Incremental Encoder
Micronor’s new MR312 ZapFree Incremental Rotary Encoder (patent pending) is the world’s first commercially-available, entirely passive encoder for rotation sensing applications. There are no integral electronics within the encoder housing and the all-optical design requires just a single optical fiber connection – the utmost in simplicity, reliability and ease of installation. The MR312 offers immunity to lightning and atmospheric static that would “zap” conventional encoders; outdistances copper cable by allowing link lengths to 1000 meters (3280 feet); its inert nature proves ideal for use in hazardous and explosive environments; and its intrinsic EMI/RFI resistance allows for safe and reliable operation in and around medical equipment and other “noisy” industrial environments.

MICRONOR’S New MR121 ZapFREE Encoder Cable Solves Ground Loop and Interference Problems - A Typical 50 ft Cable is $589 Each in Quantities of 100
Filed under:
Extends Reach Between Controller and Encoder
Micronor’s MR121 ZapFREE technology (patent pending) provides transport of all controller-encoder signals from cable end-to-end via industry-standard 12-pole M23 electrical connectors found on popular encoders. The encoder’s A, B and M outputs (either single-pole or differential line driver formats) are internally converted from electrical-to-optical (E/O) on the encoder end, transported through optical fibers within the cable, and then converted back from optical-to-electrical (O/E) at the controller end. Controller-sourced shield, power, ground and power/ground sense paths are transported electrically Internal O/E and E/O converters require minimal current and a small regulated tap provides all internal power power requirements of the in...

MICRONOR’S New MR121 ZapFREE Encoder Cable Solves Ground Loop and Interference Problems and Extends Reach Between Controller and Encoder
Filed under:
Micronor’s new MR121 Encoder Cable is guaranteed to solve nagging ground loop and interference problems in motion control systems. The product uses Micronor’s ZapFREE technology which employs the use of fiber optic technology within the cable assembly, but in a manner completely transparent to the user. The MR121 product looks and functions like a standard electrical encoder cable. The equipment operator simply disconnects the existing controller-to-sensor connections and replaces them with corresponding MR121 ZapFREE Encoder Cables. No engineering redesign is required or needed.
