MICOS USA, a leading supplier of precision motion control technology, announces the introduction of the SMC-Hydra universal motor controller motor/driver package.

The SMC-Hydra integrates two axis of state-of-the art motion control capability in a compact package. Each axis supports the following features:

Universal, digitally programmable driver for stepper motor, brush- and brushless DC motor, including linear BLDC motors, up to 48V, 10A per axis
High-resolution (> 5000 micro-steps/full step) stepper motor driver with CoolRunner drive technology for minimal motor heating in vacuum applications
Incremental encoder feedback with 12 bit interpolator for analog encoder signals
Absolute encoder feedback using the proprietary all digital MICOS magnetic linear encoder with a resolution down to 15 nm at a speed up to 10 m/sec
True closed-loop operation for all motor types
Digital and analog inputs and outputs
Powerful 10/100 Mbit Ethernet interface as well as an ultra-fast RS-232 interface for programming.
