LSI/CSI's Quadrature Counter Packs 4-Axes Support in a Single Chip (with Non-Quadrature Multi-Mode Counting Capability)
Posted Apr 22 2008

LSI/CSI introduces LS7566R, the latest addition to its incremental encoder interface family of ICs. It provides an efficient hardware solution for extracting position data directly from the quadrature outputs of as many as four encoder units. The input quadrature clocks from encoders are digitally filtered for elimination of noise and errors arising out of encoder dither, providing high level of reliability. Communications to host processors are facilitated by a 3-state octal bus and an interrupt protocol with selections from a pool of marker flags.

Step Dimmer IC with AGC Touch Control by LSI/CSI
Posted Apr 22 2008

The LS7541 is the main component for built-in or screw-in touch-adapter lamp modules that convert any metallic part of a lamp to a touch pad for control of lighting intensity. The AGC (Automatic Gain Control) feature of the LS7541 allows the modules to convert any size lamp to touch control, independent of line plug polarity. The touch-adapter modules provide lamp owners with ease of use and energy savings while eliminating the need for costly multi-filament bulbs. Touch-adapter modules compatible with 50Hz/60Hz AC Line frequencies and any AC Line voltage can be produced using the LS7541.

LSI/CSI introduces the LS7766, a robust addition to its family of encoder interface and motion control ICs. The LS7766 supersedes it's rivals in versatility and system throughput. Available in both single-axis or dual-axis versions, it has a count range of 32-bits to support applications where large magnitudes of data are involved. It's configurable Octal/Hex parallel IO bus enhances the system throughput by a factor of two over it's predecessors. Its many configurable counting modes relieves the host micro-controller of various control and data formatting tasks reducing the burden on it's resources.

LSI/CSI Offers Quadrature Counter Interface for Incremental Encoders - Features Multi-Mode Counting
Filed under: Electronic Component Integrated Circuit

The LS7166 is a programmable quadrature counter IC providing an efficient hardware solution for acquiring position data directly from incremental encoders. Acting as a peripheral device, it can relieve the host processor of the time intensive task of tracking the encoder motion clock by clock, allowing the computational resources to be allocated for processing the collected data. The IC is programmable to function in several counting and input/output modes, configurable by four write accessible mode control registers. A 3-state octal bus facilitates communication with host processors. LS7166 includes the following features: • 24-bit up/down counter for accumulating encoder positional data • 24-bit input register along with its companion 24-bit comparator for target position
