It fulfils the requirements for a small compact unit which is easily incorporated into control systems. It is available in 3 - 6 and 9 A models, all with a supply voltage of between 15 and 80 Volt. In addition, a range of Drivers with various step resolutions are available: models with full-step, half-step, 1/4 and 1/8 step, and models where resolution can be selected between 10, 25, 50 and 125 ministeps. Thus resolutions up to 25000 ministeps/revolution can be obtained. All models are supplied with the special feature of selectable step curve sequencing which provides optimum matching for different types of step motor.The use of ministeps instead of the more commonly used full or half step gives significantly smoother motor operation and excellent positioning accuracy. These drivers provide many additional advantages: error output, optically isolated inputs and outputs, automatic switching between operating and stand-by current, and a facility for external control of current. These features make them universally applicable for many tasks in the field of motor control. As standard, the Ministep Drivers are constructed for mounting on a heat sink or a machine in proximity to the motor, thus avoiding long cabling. DeviceNet Expansion Module for JVLs integrated MAC motors
JVL, now represented in Ohio, USA, has developed a new module for the MAC50-141 and MAC800 series of integrated servo motors that enables the MAC motors to be used on Devicenet. The AC-servo motor, encoder, amplifier, positional controller and Devicenet are all built into the motor. The only connections required are a supply voltage and the Devicenet cables. The device type is a "Position controller", which is a standard method for controlling position when motion control is used on Devicenet. A double-supply facility is available so that position and parameters are maintained intact for example during an emergency stop. Via Devicenet it is possible to access all of the MAC motor's registers.
At no additional cost, the Expansion Module is supplied with EDS files, function blocks and program examples for the most commonly used Devicenet PLCs from Omron and Rockwell. JVL Offers MAC 800 Series Integrated AC Servo Motors (with brake) The MAC motor is available in 2 sizes. The smaller 50, 95, 140 or 141W, and the bigger 750 W. Both have 3 times peak power; up to 1.59kW (MAC141) and 7.1 Nm is possible (MAC800). The motors use standard flanges so the MAC motors can directly replace a step motor without mechanical modification. Motor parameters are set-up and programmed via an RS232 or RS485 port using Windows software MacTalk.

The MAC 50 – 141 series and the MAC 400 – 750 series (without and with brake).
The MAC motor is an AC servo motor and controller combined in a single unit, offering previously unseen low pricing for the OEM market. Integrating electronics in a motor has been achieved previously, but never in such a compact unit with true AC servo performance. In the MAC motor, the servo motor, hall sensors, encoder and control circuitry have been especially designed by JVL to provide a self-contained, integrated unit in which the driver and controller are mounted behind the motor in a sealed housing.
