Harsh Environment - Stainless Steel Encoder from EPC Thrives in Harsh Conditions
Print
Harsh, corrosive, or just plain messy environments, such as chemical processing, oil refining, food packaging, bottling, and filling, can often lead to premature equipment failure and costly downtime. The new Model 865T stainless steel C-face encoder from Encoder Products Company can help. It is specifically designed to mount on NEMA C-face motors with frame sizes from 56C to 184C and engineered to handle the demanding environments of today’s toughest industrial applications. At the heart of this rugged design is the Model 865T housing, milled from solid 316 stainless steel, a food and surgical grade of stainless steel. This housing makes the Model 865T more resistant to rust/oxidation and the effects of corrosive chemicals, as compared to encoders housed in aluminum or plastic. The addition of the optional stainless steel protective cover provides sealing to IP66, protecting the internal bearings and electronics from dust and the strong jets of water often used during machine wash-downs. The mechanical design of the Model 865T includes precision ball bearings and an internal flex mount which practically neutralizes the effects of motor shaft run-out or axial endplay, a common cause of encoder failures. The thru-bore design allows for easy installation with C-face mounts on both sides of the encoder, allowing additional C-face devices to be mounted to the encoder. The Model 865T also features EPC’s advanced Opto-ASIC technology, ensuring that you consistently receive a pure and clean output signal, even with higher resolutions and the harshest environmental conditions. The Model 865T is the latest addition to EPC’s Stainless Steele line of extreme duty Accu-Coder™ brand encoders. As with every Accu-Coder™, the Stainless Steel Series is manufactured to exacting standards, ensuring you of the quality you've come to expect from Encoder Products Company.
