 Neugart introduced a new enhanced clamping system for its popular E-series (PLE) planetary servo gearheads. The new "PCS2" clamping system makes the mounting of servomotors even easier. The input shaft and clamping ring lamping are not separate pieces. The clamping ring is integrated with the input shaft / sun-gear, hence no turning of the clamping ring during the mounting; the ring cannot fall off and get lost in the shipment, or handling, stocking. Parallel to these useful user-friendly features the new optimized design generates a higher clamping force, hence even safer torque transfer. The integrated design also facilitates a more exact, truly balanced run with the result of reduced noise generation. The Best Balanced Planetary Ratio from a Torque Density Point of View
By Dr. Gerhard G. Antony / Neugart USA LP  What ratio is the optimal for a certain application depends on the motor and application parameters such as required torque, rpm and, inertial match. For easier computation it is preferred that the planetary gearbox ratio is an exact integer ( 3, 4, 6 ..... ). Since we are so used to the decimal system, one frequently is tempted to use 10:1 even though this has no practical advantaged for the computer / servo / motion controller. Actually, as we will see, 10:1 or higher ratios are the weakest; using the least "balanced" size gears and hence has the lowest torque rating.

These planetary servo gearheads can be optionally equipped with an internal spline output shaft. Standard solid or common hollow shaft gearboxes do not facilitate the possibility of a internal spline mounting.

Taper roller bearings are now standard in the S-series gearheads securing and even higher shaft load carrying capability. A clearance fee, pre-loaded sets of precision taper roller bearings are supporting the output shaft of the S-series Neugart gearheads. The taper roller bearing is now standard, replacing the previously used angular contact ball bearings, which are still available as option. The advantage of the taper roller bearings is the higher load carrying capability, whereas the angular contact ball bearings have advantages at high speeds.
Run-out free precision mounting for today's high speed servo motors utilizing a patented clamping arrangement, a feature available only from Neugart.
The patented Precision Clamping System "PCS" is now a standard in all Neugart gearheads. Modern servo- motors can run at speeds of 600orpm or even 10000rpm; hence a reliable and run-out free clamping of the motor shaft to the input pinion is important for a smooth, vibration free operation.
Unlike the current mainstream designs using for clamping slit hollow shafts, or in some cases just a cumbersome radial setscrew, the patented Neugart PCS has 5 slots machined into the hollow clamping portion of the pinion, not cut all-the way through, leaving an intact circular rim which facilitates a uniform deformation of the hollow shaft during the clamping process.
Neugart is introducing the high value economy line servo gearhead PLFE with rotating flange (disc). The rotating output flange is according to the “ISO Standard for Mechanical Interfaces in robotics” ISO 9409. The internal design of the gearhead is identical to the PLE line, which offers the highest torque density in the industry. It has 4 planets in the high torque output stage and high-density needle bearings. 
With the 4 planets at the output stage, case hardened precision gears (including the ring gear) the Neugart PLE planetary gearhead products are the leader, offering the highest torque density, the best value in its class. Neugart further enhanced the design by adopting high density “fully packed” needle roller bearings for all planet gears increasing the gearhead life to > / = 30,000 hours which is factor 1.5 to 2 more than competitive units can offer. A large number of Automation, Controlled-Motion applications do not require a gear reduction for torque boosting or inertia matching. On the other hand in many applications a servo or stepper motor in "right angle-power-flow" would be very desirable for a more compact, space saving design.
