Product ReleaseGalil Motion Control Releases New CDS-3310 Controller and Drive System for Single-Axis Applications - Compact, High Performance Package Eliminates External Wiring Galil Motion Control, the industry innovator in the design and production of motion controllers and amplifier boards, announces the availability of their new, low cost CDS-3310 single-axis controller and drive system designed to provide high performance and precise control of a single brush or brushless servo motor. It combines a programmable motion controller and 500-Watt drive in a single, compact package that eliminates the external wiring between the controller and drive.“We built the CDS-3310 to include many of the advanced, high performance features found in Galil’s popular DMC-21x3 multi-axis controller and drives,” says Lisa Wade, VP-Marketing and Sales, Galil. “The big difference is that the CDS-3310 has been cost-reduced for single-axis applications.” For example, the CDS-3310 includes PID compensation with notch filter and velocity/acceleration feedforward, non-volatile program memory with multitasking, uncommitted digital and analog I/O, and advanced modes of motion such as electronic gearing and teach-and-playback. It also accepts differential encoder inputs up to 12 MHz, and provides dual encoder inputs that enable it to easily accommodate electronic gearing or dual-loop applications. Additionally, the CDS-3310 includes a high-performance PWM drive that operates up to 7 amps continuous, 60 Volts. Software commands provide diagnostics and programmable amplifier gains; and also allow the drive to be easily configured for brushless or brush motors. The PWM switching frequency is 60 kHz and the amplifier offers protection against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature scenarios. An on-board DC-to-DC converter allows for convenient voltage input from a single 18V-60V DC supply. Galil also designed the CDS-3310 to include a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port and up to eight controllers that can be networked. This reduces communication overhead because the host computer needs only talk to the master CDS-3310 in the network, which, in turn, communicates with the other controllers in the network. Galil Offers Its New Accelera Series of Faster, More Powerful Motion Controllers Galil Motion Control, the industry innovator in high performance, cost-effective and easy-to-use motion controllers and drives, introduces its DMC-18x6 PCI bus motion controller, the first in its newest generation of motion controllers, The Accelera Series. Featuring a powerful, 32-bit Risc-based, clock multiplying processor with DSP functionality, these controllers deliver much higher speed performance and processing power than prior generation controllers. This includes the ability to accept encoder inputs up to 22 MHz, servo update rates as low as 24 microseconds per axis, and command execution speeds as low as 40 microseconds.
