Product ReleaseBespoke Wiper Systems from Parvalux Electric Motors
 In conjunction with a key strategic partner, Parvalux have developed a range of two-speed self-parking windscreen-wiper motors for applications such as rolling stock, marine and automotive. A new brief was received to offer a windscreen motor across a range of applications that would minimize the number of mechanical interfaces. Under the guidance of our Key Accounts Manager, Rudy Dias, the specification was laid down for a completely new design. The team incorporated all the required features including a novel wiring solution that removes external wiring between the parking plate and the motor. A rapid prototype from SLS (selective laser sintering) was produced which incorporated this wiring loom and a new gear-set. Offering 85% the strength of a cast aluminum structure, the fully-working prototype was fitted with a PM10 motor for testing. On the basis of successful trials, tooling is laid down for production volumes. With a 'concept to rapid prototype' time of six weeks, the possibility for an OEM to innovate quicker and faster becomes reality.
