 Computer Optical Products Inc (COPI), an Allied Motion company, offers a new family of high resolution incremental encoders, the CP-850/950 HHC series. These cost-effective rotary optical encoders are available in 35 different resolutions, ranging from 25,000 up to 1,250,000 pulses per revolution. These are conventional quadrature encoders with index that can achieve with quadrature edge detection up to five million measuring steps per revolution. Absolute accuracy is ±12 arc seconds.The model CP-850 comes standard with a 3/8” (9.53mm) shaft, whereas the model CP-950 has as standard a 1/2” (12.7mm) hollow-shaft with integral shaft coupling. The CP-850 is supplied with either a servo-mount or a square mounting flange, while CP-950 units are equipped with a flexible (spring) mounting plate. Both models are industry-standard size 25 (2.5” body diameter) and only 2.5” (63.5mm) in length. The standard 24” (610mm) cable can be ordered as either side or end (axial) exit. A connector option is available. IP66-rated sealing is also available for either model. The CP-850/950 output format is standard A-B plus inverse quadrature and index pulse from an RS-422 compatible linedriver having a 2 MHz bandwidth. Voltage supply is TTL-level +5 VDC. Standard operating temperature ranges to 85°C; higher ratings are available by special order. The new CP-850/950 series are ideal for use in high precision positioning and measuring systems such as micro lithography, photogrammetry, antenna pedestal positioning, high-resolution machine tools, telescope systems, and rotary tables. Motor Products Corp. Debuts "VIP" DC Motor Series — Higher Reliability, Sealed 3-Inch DC Motors for Mobile Air-Moving & Mechanical Duty Applications
Motor Products Corporation (MPC), an Allied Motion Technologies company, announces the immediate availability of its Endurance 30 VIP series of 3-inch diameter DC brush motors. The Value Improvement Product ("VIP") series are specifically designed for improved performance in mobile air-moving and mechanical duty applications.
VIP motors are constructed of rugged tube-shell housings and cast end bells. Particular attention was given to motor sealing: O-rings seal the body joints; case bolts thread into blind holes; other hardware is o-ring sealed; and a grease-filled labyrinth hub with slinger effectively seals the shaft. No "goops and glues" are used in the sealing process.

This new member of Premotec's BL58 motor line expands the dynamic speed range (ratio between lowest and highest controllable speed) of the line to cover 70 to 3450 RPM. In addition, the new BL58-EB adds bi-directional active braking capability.
The BL58-EB is very compact (diameter 68 mm, length 62 mm) for a motor rated at 35 Watts power output (110 mNm continuous torque at 3000 RPM). Its service life is extremely long owing to the rugged bearing system and absence of brushes. This performance, along with its standard IP54 protection (up to IP67 available), makes the BL58-EB ideal for use in medical equipment, particularly when battery-powered, in such applications as pumps, robotic vial/pipette handlers, medication dispensing systems, and gas supply equipment, to cite a few.
