News ReleaseOMRON Releases CP1E Micro Programmable ControllersKyoto, Japan - OMRON Corporation announced the release of additions to the CP Series, the CP1E CPU Units, which embody three concepts: Economy, Easy, and Efficient. Sales will begin on April. (Please contact your local representative for availability.) In recent years, there has been greater demand for more advanced functionality, even in micro PLCs with approximately 10 to 200 I/O points for use in small-scale control applications. Since 2006, CPU Units for advanced micro PLCs, the CP1H CPU Units and CP1L CPU Units, have been added to the CP Series. There are also many manufacturers that give greater priority to cost efficiency and want to achieve the same functionality while reducing materials costs. This represents a major demand for price reduction. The newly released CP1E CPU Units can be used to build low-cost micro PLCs that respond to these demands. Manufacturers that produce compact equipment place importance on keeping manufacturing costs down without spending a lot of time on design and system implementation. The CP1E CPU Units also respond to this demand by featuring simplified programming and wiring verification. There are two types of CPU Units: the E-type Basic CPU Units, which provide a low cost with minimal functionality, and the N-type Application CPU Units, which incorporate a serial port for connection with Programmable Terminals and a pulse I/O function for position control. The N-type CPU Units can control compact devices efficiently. Main Features Economy The CP1E CPU Units are the answer to the most essential demand for micro PLCs: price reduction. Price reduction is realized by revising the cost of components without sacrificing quality. Easy 1. USB Port on All Models The CP1E CPU Units can be connected to a computer using a commercially available USB cable. By also using a relay cable, it is easy to connect to the Programming Device without connecting to a computer. 2. I/O Indicators to Check ON/OFF Status at a Glance Indicators that show the ON/OFF status of I/O terminals are arranged at the terminal wiring positions to make it easy to see the relation between ON/OFF status controlled by the CP1E and the connected devices. They also make it easy to check the wiring status when making adjustments during system installation. 3. Smart Inputs with the CX-Programmer for CP1E (CP1E Programming Device) Assisted input for instructions and addresses provides candidates when the first letter is input. To correct the program when instructions are added or deleted, lines are automatically added by the automatic line creation function. Keyboard operations can be reduced to 30% compared with previous OMRON products by simplifying the programming process using the Smart Input function. Efficient N-type CPU Units have a built-in RS-232C port for connection to a Programmable Terminal. RS-232C or RS-442/485 communications ports can also be added to N-type CPU Units with 30 or 40 I/O points to connect components, such as Inverters. An N-type CPU Unit provides six high-speed counters, two at 100 kHz and four at 10 kHz, as well as two 100 kHz pulse outputs (available soon). With these functions, the CP1E CPU Units provide added value for customers that want to perform multi-product production or that want to produce high-precision devices. |
