The AC-servo motor, encoder, amplifier, positional controller and Devicenet are all built into the motor. The only connections required are a supply voltage and the Devicenet cables. The device type is a "Position controller", which is a standard method for controlling position when motion control is used on Devicenet. A double-supply facility is available so that position and parameters are maintained intact for example during an emergency stop.
