FRABA Inc., based in Hamilton, New Jersey, is the North American member of German-based FRABA Group, a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative, high-technology sensors for motion control and industrial automation. The company history dates back to 1918 when its predecessor, Franz Baumgartner elektrische Apparate GmbH, was established to manufacture relays. In 2009, FRABA Pte opened in Singapore to provide support to global customers.
FRABA develops and markets a variety of motion sensors under its POSITAL brand, including,
OPTICODE: high-precision optical absolute rotary encoders, ideal for demanding industrial automation applications including packaging and food processing equipment, pulp and paper/printing processes, and offshore equipment;
MAGNETOCODE: rugged and reliable absolute rotary encoders, designed for use in motion control systems that are exposed to harsh environmental conditions (e.g. trucks, construction machinery, mining equipment, elevators, industrial valves for chemical and water treatment plants, medical equipment, wind turbines and solar panels);
MDW draw-wire: linear motion transducers that combine an accurate magnetic rotary encoder with a precision-built draw-wire spool to provide a versatile and cost-effective tool for monitoring linear motion in applications as diverse as material handling systems, cranes, hoists and forklift trucks, medical equipment and automatic doors;
ACCELENS: inclinometers that provide accurate and dynamically responsive measurement of spatial orientation of equipment such as cranes, hoists, construction and agricultural machinery, medical equipment, mining machinery and solar panels;
OPTIPACT: motion sensors that use a unique non-contacting optical technology for measuring speed and displacement of moving objects or surfaces in applications such as production of roll products (paper, fabrics, foil, wire etc.). Since there is no contact with the surface being monitored, they are ideal for measuring the movement of hot, wet, delicate or sticky surfaces. These devices have also been successful in applications such as the control of automated guided vehicles or speed monitoring in wind turbines.
FRABA’s VITECTOR brand covers safety products designed to detect and/or avoid accidental collisions between large moving objects (such as automatic doors or robot arms) and people or equipment in the immediate vicinity.
