Parvalux supports green power with geared motors for solar tracker applications

Company: Parvalux

Here two Parvalux geared motors (PM50GWS) are fitted to an Azimuth-Altitude Dual Axis Tracker (AADAT). One axis is a vertical pivot shaft or horizontal ring mount that allows the device to be swung to a compass point. The second axis is a horizontal elevation pivot mounted upon the azimuth platform. By using combinations of the two axes, any location in the upward hemisphere may be pointed to. Such systems may be operated under computer control according to the expected solar orientation, or may use a tracking sensor to control motor drives that orient the panels toward the sun. Our motors can be also used in Single Axis Trackers, Vertical Single Axis Tracker (VSAT), Tilted Single Axis Tracker (TSAT) and Dual Axis Trackers Tip – Tilt Dual Axis Tracker (TTDAT) following the trajectory of the sun with accurate tracking in orientation and / or elevation.

Maximising the sun’s potential energy by collecting the optimum light from the sun, the output solar cells are more efficient and energy capture increases by 30-40%

Space required for solar park is reduced (for the same output) and tracking also reduces shading

Return on investment (ROI) is strong, it usually amortises itself within 18 months on average

We have over 60 years of motor design behind us, so our motors are more reliable and longer lasting because we leverage in-house extensive multidisciplinary experience. Our design engineers work with the latest 3D modeling tools to allow for virtual gear design and analysis. We work to industry standards, ensuring that our products withstand extreme environmental conditions with IP ratings of 54 or above.

Product Design and Development

Our in-house facility offers considerable technical expertise with 15 qualified design engineers who work with you either customising our current models or designing, prototyping or producing a bespoke product to your precise requirements. Not surprisingly we remain as the ‘partner of choice’ for many leading European OEM’s due to our ongoing investment within our design, manufacture and test facilities.

We offer: end-to-end project management; cost-benefit analysis; 3D CAD models to save you drawing time and ensure perfect interfacing with our systems; Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for improved quality and reliability of components; Math-CAD analysis to improve motor design and gear ratings; and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify any potential design flaws.

Then using the latest rapid prototyping techniques, CNC machines and quality processes we can manufacture new products with flexibility and speed, rigorously testing the final design before it goes into full production.

Our project teams encompass representatives from our production, design, supply-chain, quality and sales departments, to ensure that the development process is supported by a breadth of expertise and knowledge at every stage.
