Many facilities are now open 24 hours a day. Which typically means cleaning alongside customers. The floor cleaner is often battery driven and runs quietly so as not to annoy people. Instead of having to mop the floor and then use a machine to polish, today’s cleaner provides a combination of washing and polishing.

Floor cleaners bristle with technology, yet despite this, it is the humble geared motor that is the heart of the machine.

The geared motor has to meet two, mutually exclusive needs. The first is to provide sufficient power to drive the cleaning brushes under heavy load, day-in, day-out. The second is to use as little power as possible to conserve battery energy. Oh, and it must be extremely quiet.

The GB12 gearbox powered by the RE90 motor is well suited to the commercial cleaning market.

Using powerful rare-earth magnets, the RE90 is powerful and efficient, ideal for battery driven cleaners. The GB12 is a lightweight, robust and efficient gearbox using a continuously cast PB2 bronze gear together with a hardened and ground worm. The resulting solution is both extremely quiet and durable.
