High Speed Bellows Couplings
R+W has recently launched the new MKS series of high speed bellows couplings. Distinguished by a special hub connection with external clamping ring, the MKS can be balanced to run at up to 150,000 rpm. The natural balance and light weight of the bellows lend themselves well to smooth running in high speed applications.
The additional benefits of high torsional stiffness and light restoring loads on coupled shafting make the MKS well suited to testing and instrumentation, since torque fluctuations are transferred accurately and drag resulting from minute shaft misalignment is kept to a minimum. Clamping hubs are machined to a high degree of concentricity and pre-centered onto the bellows, guaranteeing straightness. Common balance grades are G6.3 and G2.5, however in some cases, dynamic balancing of Q1 is achievable.
The MKS is designed for torques from 0.1 to 10 Nm (14 to 1,416 oz-in) and shaft diameters from 1 to 28mm (0.040” to 1.000”) with custom configurations and flange designs available.
Other models of high performance bellows couplings are available for torque values of up to 150,000 Nm (110,625 ft-lbs.).
