Elgin, IL. Dunkermotoren introduced their powerful DC servo motors with EtherCAT interface at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES trade show in Nuremberg this past November, 2010.

EtherCAT, an Ethernet based field bus system that meets very high demands of real-time requirements, is the fastest growing technology of all Ethernet based field bus systems (in terms of nodes for applications in industry automation).

Dunkermotoren’s “BG” family of servo motors offers powerful and intelligent motors with output power ranging from 40 to 500W. These compact motors have long been available with field bus interface CANopen and are now available with the established Profibus DP (V1) interface. With the EtherCAT interface, Dunkermotoren completes their portfolio of integrated communication interfaces.

With CANopen over EtherCAT (CoE), Dunkermotoren servo motors are able to operate as slaves in an EtherCAT network. CANopen over EtherCAT uses the same objects as used with CANopen. Dunkermotoren uses standardized components according to DSP402 for servo motor positioning, monitoring and setting. For today’s varied industry applications, Dunkermotoren provides versatile motor solutions. Users can select from a diversified, modular system of motor components, which enables machine manufacturers to configure their motors to their exact specifications needs. Dunkermotoren’s modular product offering is made possible through their extensive portfolio of planetary and worm gearboxes, brakes and encoders. This modular approach awards manufacturers the benefit of perfectly matched components, short development cycles and a reduced supplier base.

Typical markets served by the new series are Factory Automation, Semiconductor, and Medical.
